2023 Women’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2023 Women’s Collegiate Club Big Ten Division schedule.
Comprised of Michigan State University, The Ohio State University, Purdue University, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan “A”, the University of Michigan “B” and the University of Wisconsin, the division will contest its 12th season of competition in 2023.
In the history of the division, Michigan (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2022), Ohio State (2017, 2018) and Michigan State (2019) hold the prior 11 championship crowns awarded since the Big Ten Division joined the CWPA league structure prior to the 2010 season. A Big Ten Division champion was not crowned during either the 2020 or 2021 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic terminating the completion and start of the campaigns, respectively.
Competition begins at two sites on Saturday-Sunday, March 25-26, as Wisconsin hosts Illinois, Iowa and Purdue in Madison, Wisc., while Ohio State hosts Michigan “A”, Michigan “B” and Michigan State for eight games in Columbus, Ohio. The Wisconsin event is unique as six men’s collegiate club games will occur during the 14-contest weekend. Due to the compact schedule at Wisconsin, all men’s games on March 25 and all contest (men’s and women’s) on March 26 will utilize six-minute quarters with one timeout per half for each team and no overtime.
The regular season draws to a close on Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2, as all eight teams converge on Ann Arbor, Mich., for a 16-game weekend at Michigan to establish the final seeding for the 12-game Big Ten Division Championship on Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23, at Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
The victor of the Big Ten Division Championship earns the group’s automatic berth to the 2023 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, May 5-7, at a site to be determined.
