WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Connecticut College women’s water polo team fell to both Carthage College, 15-10, and Austin College, 12-8, at Washington & Jefferson College’s Henry Memorial Natatorium on the final day of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III regular season competition during the 2026 campaign.

The losses drop Connecticut to 2-6 in CWPA Division III competition as the team clinches the No. 6 seed for the upcoming league championship on Friday-Sunday, April 10-12, at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.

Against Carthage, the Firebirds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter. The Camels answered back with four goals in the second quarter, with Juno Aselton tallying a hat trick and Sarah Nagel adding the fourth marker. However, Carthage found the back of the net six times in the frame to lead 9-4 by halftime.

The second half was back-and-forth, as both teams scored three times in both the third and fourth quarters. For the Camels, Aselton added three more goals over the final 16 minutes with Melia Lorch, Emma Luna and Jada Keen depositing their team’s other three tallies.

Taking on Austin, the Kangaroos struck twice in the opening three minutes before Aselton got Connecticut on the scoreboard with 4:34 remaining in the opening eight minutes. The ‘Roos answered back a minute and a half later to lead 3-1 after one quarter before the Camels struck three times in the second quarter, with Luna finding the back of the net twice, while Maddie Baybeck added the third. However, Austin scored four times to take a 7-4 advantage into the break.

The lead grew to 9-4 before the Camels concluded the third quarter with two of the final three goals as Luna and Nagel made it 10-6 heading to the fourth quarter.

Both sides scored twice in the final quarter, as the Camels got solo strikes from Luna and Grace Isola as Connecticut came up short in taking a four goal loss.
