ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team opened the 2026 season by facing Midwest powers Division III No. 8-ranked Macalester College and Division III No. 5/defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College in non-conference action at the Riley Pool during the 2026 Macalester Invitational. The hosts downed the Wolverines by a 21-7 score in the lidlifter before the Vikings secured a 24-7 victory.
Junior Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) fired in three goals for Grove City in the opener against Macalester. Senior Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and sophomore Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) both added two more.
Senior Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) assisted on two goals. Baksa, Sill both and freshman Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) also had assists.
Tihansky led the defense with four steals. Sill had three thefts. Senior Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made two saves in goal.
Tihansky posted three goals against Augustana, while Baksa scored twice and sophomore Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) chipped in a goal and two assists. Sill also recorded an assist.
Baska and Tihansky both chalked up three steals in support of a three save performance by Steen.
