BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Middlebury College will host and compete in the 2022 women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship on Saturday-Sunday, April 30-May 1, at home in the Middlebury Natatorium in Middlebury, Vt.
For fans unable to make the trip to the Green Mountain State, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) will provide live-streaming coverage of the event at $10 per game or $25 for a weekend pass at CWPATV.com.
For fans attending the championship in person, general admission ticket prices are $10 per day and $15 for a two-day, tournament pass. Children 12 and under are free of charge. Senior citizens receive a discounted rate of $5 for a one day pass / $7 for a tournament pass.
Middlebury, which was slated to host the 2020 event prior to the cancellation of the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will serve as the site for the second women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship following the inaugural event claimed by the Panthers in 2019 at Villanova University.
In 2019, eight teams competed for the crown at Villanova with Middlebury edging Washington University in St. Louis by a 14-11 score for the national championship.
In 2022, five teams will trek to Vermont to face the host Panthers with eyes on capturing the Division III Club Championship:
Seeded based on the results of the 2019 championship, the 2022 event will pit teams from both the West and East Coasts along with programs from the heartland of the nation. The championship field is comprised of representatives from six divisions:
- North Atlantic Division – Tufts University
- Midwest Division – Washington University in St. Louis
- Mid-Atlantic Division: Hamilton College
- Heartland Division: Carleton College
- Sierra Pacific Division: University of California-Santa Cruz
- Host/North Atlantic Division Runner-Up: Middlebury College
Middlebury was the only team guaranteed a spot in the field as the host institution.
The 2022 Women’s Division III Club Championship marks the third time Middlebury will host a Division III National Championship as the men’s club hosted the 2012 and 2017 men’s events. Further, it marks the second women’s collegiate club national championship in the Green Mountain State as the Panthers previously hosted the 2015 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship.
