EMMITSBURG, Md. — Danko Kesic totaled six goals to lead Mount St. Mary’s University to a 17-13 defeat of George Washington University in a Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) home game.  The win improves the Mount’s record to 9-14 for the season and 3-5 in the MAWPC.

In the first quarter of the game against the Revolutionaries, Kesic started the scoresheet for the Mountaineers. Giannis Skliras found the back of cage twice to end the first quarter as the Mount and GW were tied at three-all heading into the second quarter.

Luka Urosevic beat the George Washington netminder, Skliras dented the twine and Urosevic found the back of cage again after a quick turnaround shot to push the Mountaineers ahead.  Kesic and Urosevic tacked on additional strikes in the closing minutes of the first half as Mount St. Mary’s held an 8-4 scoreboard advantage at the halftime break.

Neven Cerkez added a tally by his name on the scoresheet to start the third quarter, followed by a quick goal from Kesic. The duo of Urosevic and Kesic scored back-to-back goals less than a minute apart prior to Giacomo Graff and Kesic lining in shots.

Leading 14-7 moving into the final eight minutes of regulation, Kesic found the back of cage one last time before Skliras flipped in a pair of chances to cap off a 17-13 victory.

Kesic (five), Skliras (five) and Urosevic (four) combined to outscore the Colonials with 15 goals while Cerkez and Graff chipped in solo markers.  Milan Miskolczi and Matthew Royer both served time in goal to anchor the Mountaineers’ defense.
