BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Matthew Haygood (So., Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills) of McKendree University tallied 13 goals, six assists, five drawn exclusions and three steals during a 2-1 weekend for the Bearcats in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Region at Monmouth College. For his performance, he earns recognition as the October 14 MAWPC co-Player of the Week with La Salle University’s Luke Waechter (Sr., Pennllyn, Pa./Wissahickon).
Haygood pumped in seven goals during a 19-15 loss to Gannon University prior to putting away a pair of tallies in a 21-6 defeat of Monmouth on Saturday, October 12. He added four more markers in a 19-8 victory over Mercyhurst University on Sunday, October 13.
He is the inaugural McKendree athlete to earn a weekly varsity Player of the Week (Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week) award from the league office.
