BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Our new segment “Meet the Staff” is designed to allow the water polo community to learn more about who comprises the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league staff. The fourth segment features Director of Multimedia Jon Weaver who discusses his involvement with the sport and role in the league structure.
Hired in December 2015, Weaver is responsible for the coordination and improved production of the league’s streaming efforts, including the Men’s and Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship, Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Championship, CWPA Championship, Men’s Division III Collegiate Club and Women’s Division III Championship. In addition, he oversees the production of video content for the league’s website and advertising for the league’s primary sponsors, KAP7 and Turbo.
He brings experience on both the collegiate and professional levels to the organization, including past service to the league as a video production intern from January 2014 until his appointment as Director of Multimedia.
Weaver previously served as a video production intern with the Lancaster Barnstormers, an independent league baseball team located in Lancaster, Pa., during the months of May-to-June 2015. While with the Barnstormers, he produced and directed game day media from the press box control room; worked with the public address announcer, music, cameras and game day emcee to provide an energetic game day experience; organized and established content prior to home games; and edited commercials and highlight videos for in-game and online content.
A 2015 graduate of Temple University with a degree in Media Studies and Production, he served as a cameraman for live sports events at the Liacouras Center and McGonigle Hall, he serves as a cameraman and Technical Director for OwlsTV in addition to performing the duties of cameraman, Technical Director, Producer and Writer for OwlSports Update, a show covering Temple athletics.
