PROVIDENCE, R.I.  — The No. 15-ranked Brown University men’s water polo team picked up two wins to improve to 5-2 on the season. Brown’s offense exploded for 37 goals on the night in victories over Mercyhurst University, 18-5, and Division III No. 4 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 19-8, in the final tune-up before Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) play.

Brown cruised to a win to start the day by beating Mercyhurst. The Bears were led by five goals from Daniel Khristich and four scores by Ilias Stothart. Daniel Hadar, Jaxson Tierney and Ramzi Megalli all had two goals for the Bears.

Stothart had two goals for the Bears as Brown held a 6-1 lead after the first quarter. The Bears stretched the lead to 11-2 at halftime with Khristich scoring two goals in the second quarter.

Brown won the third quarter quarter, 4-1, with Hadar, Tierney, Megalli and Mac Berry all finding the back of the net.

Khristich scored two more goals in the fourth quarter as Brown pulled away for the win.

The Bears used a balanced attack to beat MIT and earn a two-game sweep on the day. Berry led the Bears with three goals while Máté Tymcyna, Hadar, Tierney, Evan Moore, Gabe Chang and Stothart all tallied two markers.

Brown picked up goals from Hadar, Moore and Stothart in the first quarter to lead as the frame ended tied at three-all.

The Bears then took control of the game, scoring eight goals in the second quarter from seven different Bears. Brown continued to pour it on in the third quarter, scoring six goals as six different players found the back of the net to give Brown a 17-6 lead.

Each team scored two goals in the concluding quarter for the final tally.
