BRONX, N.Y. —  The No. 18-ranked Fordham University water polo team continued its winning ways by outlasting Bucknell University, 13-12, and Mount St. Mary’s University, 23-7.

The Rams are now 19-6 on the year, 13-0 in the MAWPC, and winners of 11 straight contest.

In the opening match, Fordham had a 7-2 lead at halftime, but a Bucknell surge in the second half cut the lead to one at 10-9 with 5:54 left in the fourth quarter.

After exchanging goals to make it 11-10, Luca Silvestri scored back-to-back goals for the Rams to make it a 13-10 contest.

The Rams held off a late push by Bucknell, as they got to within one with 1:12 left, but Fordham held on defensively for the 13-12 win.

For Fordham, Silvestri netted a team-high five goals to go with three steals, while Lucas Nieto Jasny had three goals.  Jacopo Parrella added two goals, two assists, and three steals, while the remaining goals came from Christos Loupakis, Jason Hiremath and Nacho Ariste.  In net, Thomas Lercari made ten saves, including a penalty block.

In the nightcap, Fordham pulled out to a big 8-1 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 23-7 win over Mount St. Mary’s.

For the Rams, Silvestri and Nieto Jasny each had four goals and an assist, while Loupakis, Ariste, Parrella, and Mark Katsev each netted a pair of goals.  The remaining tallies belonged to Nir Gross, George Papanikolaou, Curtis Vidinoff, Gabriel Melillo, Victor Schultz, Balazs Berenyi and Brendan Cassidy.  In net, Lercari had 11 saves and two assists in just over two quarters of work, while Riccardo Di Giuseppe had six saves in over a quarter of work.
