BRONX, N.Y. – In their return to Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center after five straight road games, including three in California, the No. 5-ranked Fordham University men’s water polo team earned a 20-8 win over Wagner College in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) competition.
The Rams improve to 12-1 on the season and 4-0 in MAWPC action, while the Seahawks fall to 6-12, 1-2 MAWPC, this year. Fordham also remains perfect at home with a 3-0 mark.
Fordham took a 7-2 lead in the first quarter and added six goals in the second quarter to take a commanding 13-4 lead at the half en route to a third consecutive victory.
Sophomore Alessandro Salipante and freshman Oktavian Veklyuk led the way with three goals apiece as 12 different Rams found the back of the net.
Junior Andras Toth, graduate student Laszlo Strasser, senior Barnabas Eppel and freshman Petar Kulas each scored two goals.
In goal, freshman Viktor Savic recorded six saves, while freshman Alejandro Cheline added two stops in net.
In the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams, the Rams earned their 21st victory over the Seahawks.
