PRINCETON, N.J. — After a long awaited return back to DeNunzio Pool, No. 9-ranked Princeton University made its mission known, sweeping a pair of Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) home games by defeating Harvard University, 15-8, and Division III No. 10 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 20-14.

The defending NWPC Champion, Princeton held off a back-and-forth battle with the only other prior NWPC champion in Harvard by maintaining a narrow lead through the first half before pulling away in the third quarter. The Tigers took an 11-6 advantage into the final frame and never looked back. Otto Stothart led Princeton with four goals, while Kristóf Kovács made 12 saves.

Enrique Nuño (three), Tibi Cojocariu (two), Boti Kovács (two), Nathan Banos, Taylor Bell, Ádám Peocz, Luke Weichert and Tigran Sennett joined Stothart in the scoring column as Princeton improved to 17-9 all-time at home versus Harvard and 34-17 overall.

The Tigers’ offense stayed rolling against MIT, with Princeton reaching 20 goals behind four from Stothart and three apiece from Cojocariu, Peocz and William Swart. Joseph Hwang recorded his first career goal, while Andrew Tu netted his first tally of the season. Bell (two), Finn LeSieur, Nuño, and Gavin Appeldorn also posted strike as the Tigers raised their all-time record to 28-0 all-time versus the Engineers, including a 13-0 mark in the Garden State.

Pierre du Plessis made 16 saves, while new addition Gus von Metzsch added nine in the victory.
