PRINCETON, N.J. — The No. 9-ranked Princeton University Tigers expanded their winning streak to eight games with two more victories over No. 20 the United States Naval Academy, 11-8, and Wagner College, 17-11, at home in DeNunzio Pool.
In the early game, the Midshipmen of Navy held the Tigers off the scoreboard for the first 11:03 of game action, racing out to a four-goal cushion. Princeton climbed back within two before the intermission and rallied with the first five tallies of the second half to flip the game into a 7-4 advantage.
Princeton held off every Navy push, scoring a goal each time the road squad cut the deficit to two. Head coach Dustin Litvak‘s unit used a balanced scoring attack in the contest with seven different players registering a goal.
Billy Motherway finished with 16 stops in goal for the Tigers in the win.
Facing Wagner, the home squad ran off five goals in the first quarter, jumping ahead by four. Princeton’s offense hardly slowed down, corralling nine goals in the first 16 minutes to secure a 9-3 halftime advantage. The Tigers expanded their lead to double-digits, 13-3, and were never threatened the rest of the way. Eight different players scored a goal for the Tigers.
