BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Saint Francis University earned a 13-7 defeat of Gannon University in the Red Flash’s finale at the Salem Invitational hosted by Salem University at the Bridge Sports Complex.

SFU took control early to build a 2-1 lead after the first quarter. The Red Flash extended their advantage to 4-2 at halftime and continued to apply pressure on both offense and defense in the third quarter in pushing the lead to 7-4. Maintaining control throughout the final frame, Saint Francis closed out a 13-7 win.

Caylah Olay led the offense with four goals, adding two blocks while drawing multiple ejections and a penalty. Sofia Maioriello scored two goals and led the team with four assists, helping run the offense alongside Lexanny Gonzalez, who also had two goals and four assists.

Megan Marlin and Lucy Willis each added two goals, with Marlin also tallying four steals and a block on the defensive end. Sarah Hartwell added a goal, while Aubrey Miller distributed the ball with two assists.

In goal, Victoria Tamarit recorded nine saves and five steals, helping limit Gannon’s scoring opportunities and keep the Red Flash in control throughout the contest.
