BLOOMSBURG, Ind. — Saint Francis University dropped games to host/No. 12 Indiana University, 13-5, and California Baptist University 17-15, on the first day of the 2023 Indiana Classic. Abigail Carter and Taylor Halbauer led the Red Flash with five goals each in the two games.
Against the host Hoosiers, Halbauer led the Red Flash with three goals on five shots and also added two blocks to lead Saint Francis.
Carter and Addison Williams also tallied one goal apiece with Carter’s goal being on the power play advantage.
Grace Raquel got another start in net as she notched twelve saves for the Red Flash while also adding a steal.
Saint Francis got off to a slow start finishing the first half down 9-1 but matched Indiana in goals for the duration of the second half.
In SFU’s game versus Cal Baptist, Caylah Olay and Carter both led the Red Flash with four goals each.
Emese Szucs also pitched in for Saint Francis with three goals as she scored two of those in the fourth to help try and bring the Red Flash back.
Saint Francis tried to come back for the entire game as they saw themselves down 8-6 at half, but the Lancers matched the Red Flash goal for goal until the end of regulation.
Raquel started in goal for the Red Flash as she had 13 saves for the away team in the second game.
