BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Caden Capobianco (So., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) of No. 20-ranked the United States Naval Academy tallied 20 saves with seven steals and four assists to help the Midshipmen to victories over Division III No. 10 Johns Hopkins University and defending league champion Bucknell University in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region action. For his performance, Capobianco is named the October 18 MAWPC Defensive Player of the Week.
A three-time weekly honor recipient after previously claiming a nod as the February 23 MAWPC Rookie of the Week during the 2020-21 season prior to earning the September 13 Defensive Player of the Week award earlier this season, he made seven saves with six steals and three assists in a 14-10 win at Johns Hopkins in the morning of Saturday, October 16.
Navy returned to Annapolis for an evening contest against Bucknell as Capobianco closed the day with 13 saves, a steal and an assist in an 11-10 nailbiter versus Bucknell.
For the season, the sophomore has 148 saves, 37 steals, and five assists.
