2022 Wagner College Men’s Water Polo Schedule
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner College men’s water polo team unveiled its 2022 schedule, a 28-game slate that features four games at the Spiro Sports Center.
Last season, the Seahawks claimed a fourth-place finish in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship while earning the second-highest win total in program history with 17.
For the second consecutive season, Wagner will begin its campaign at the Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University and Harvard University on September 3-5. The Seahawks will open the season against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University on September 3 at Harvard in Cambridge, Mass., before heading to Brown in Providence, R.I., to take on the United States Air Force Academy on September 4 and University of the Pacific on September 5.
The following weekend, the Green & White will take part in the Princeton Invitational at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., for the second consecutive season. At Princeton, the Seahawks will take on St. Francis College Brooklyn and the host Tigers on September 9 before facing Iona College on September 10 and Santa Clara University on September 11.
Following the trip to Princeton, the Seahawks will head to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., to participate in the Bison Invitational for the second straight year. At Bucknell, Wagner will take on Salem University and McKendree University on September 17 before beginning MAWPC play on September 18 against defending MAWPC Champion Fordham University and Bucknell.
After a weekend away from the pool, the Seahawks resume conference play on September 29 at Fordham in the Bronx, N.Y., before taking heading to George Washington University in Washington, D.C., on October 1 and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., on October 2.
The following weekend, the Seahawks will head to West Virginia for four conference contests as the Green & White will take on Mercyhurst University and McKendree on October 8 before battling Salem University and Gannon University on October 9.
After its trip to West Virginia, the Seahawks will take on Johns Hopkins University and George Washington University at Fordham on October 15. The following day, Wagner will welcome Johns Hopkins and first-year program Long Island University to the Spiro Sports Center.
Wagner will play in two different pools on October 22 when they welcome Navy to the Spiro Sports center before heading to Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on Long Island.
The Seahawks will host the final home game of the 2022 season on October 29 when they welcome Mount St. Mary’s University on Senior Day.
The Seahawks will wrap up the regular season on November 5 at Bucknell before traveling to Emmitsburg, Md., for a regualr season finale at Mount St. Mary’s.
The quest for the MAWPC crown and the Seahawks’ inaugural trip to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship will take place from November 18-20 at Fordham hosts the league championship.
