2020 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Women’s Division III League Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the schedule of games for the 2020 Women’s Division III season.
Comprised of Austin College, Carthage College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, Penn State-Behrend, Monmouth College, Utica College, Washington & Jefferson College, Wittenberg University and three-time defending champion Macalester College, the league’s Division III teams will contest their own slate of games for the 11th season separate from the CWPA’s Division I members.
This marks the 11th season of Division III women’s championship play in the CWPA following the creation of a Division III conference in the Summer of 2009. Utica (2010), Macalester (2011, 2014, 2017), Grove City (2012, 2015), Connecticut (2013, 2016, 2019) and Penn State Behrend (2018) previously hosted the championship, with Grove City capturing the inaugural three championship crowns (2010, 2011, 2012) prior to Connecticut notching four straight and Macalester taking the the past three prizes (2017, 2018, 2019).
For the first time, the top two teams from the Division III Championship will earn a postseason berth as the champion and runner-up from the league championship at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc., on Friday-Sunday, April 17-19, earn berths to the inaugural/2020 Division III Collegiate Water Polo National Championship sponsored by USA Water Polo. A collaborative creation between the CWPA, USA Water Polo and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the top two teams from the CWPA will take on the champion and runner-up from the SCIAC on Saturday-Sunday, May 9-10, at a SCIAC institution.
